Laundry Processing & Operations

During the Laundry Processing and Operations session, participants will learn about equipment selection, preventative maintenance, key performance indicators in production and plant operations, and safety.

Tuition

Early Registration rates available when payment received by early registration deadline of October 9, 2026. Registration includes the RLLD exam.

  • Non-Members:  Early $2,050; Regular $2,550

Students are encouraged to stay at The Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky (140 N fourth St., Louisville, KY 40202). This will also be the location of all session meetings and classes.

The room block room rate $ 120 (plus taxes & fees) is when you book by the deadline of October 25, 2026.

Class Descriptions

Selecting the right equipment for your facility will maximize efficiency and production. In this session, we will help you learn how to determine load capacity, select the right equipment for your needs, and the impact finishing equipment can have on your production.

Following required safety practices requires planning, training, and monitoring to provide a safe working environment for your greatest asset, your employees. In this session, you will take a deep dive into OSHA regulations and how they apply to your facility, as well as learn how to identify safety requirements, develop safety program and emergency exit plans, and discuss fire and chemical safety in the laundry, including the importance of eye wash stations.

Many factors affect the outcome of textiles as they are cleaned. Ensure you are using the best and most effective methods by learning the impact of water quality, chemical use, and quality measures designed to optimize the wash process. We will discuss the components of a wash formula, chemical processes, troubleshooting, the wash pie, roles and parameters of certain chemicals, and titration and testing.

Managing our natural resources is essential to a laundry operation. Through this session, learn how various equipment reduces your environmental impact and lowers your operating expenses.

We’ve all heard the phrase, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,” and preventing breakdowns in facilities means significant savings. Identify the impact that a preventive maintenance program can have in a laundry processing operation and discuss how management and accountability create a safe and productive environment.

Regardless of your position at your facility, developing an overall understanding of laundry management, including planning, building profitability, and maximizing quality will help your bottom line, as well as your career. In this session, you will learn how to explore business opportunities, data security, how to calculate ROI, discuss quality control methods and textile transportation, and build an emergency management plan.

You never thought you would use math again, but calculations are necessary for an efficient laundry. In this session, we will introduce Lean Six Sigma and explain how it helps your facility, determine how to fight the war on wastes, and discuss the organization method, 5-S. We will also learn about developing production standards and production tracking software, KPIs for labor and utilities, incentive programs for improved productivity, and you will perform a time study
