Direct Contact Water Heaters Included in Concrete Batch Plants to Support Winter Production
Clearwater, Fla. (October 15, 2025)- Kemco Systems, a long-time innovator of hot water systems within the concrete industry, has partnered with The Vince Hagan Company, a leader in the manufacturing of concrete batch plants and equipment, to provide direct contact water heaters, pumps and tanks for Vince Hagan concrete batch plants, particularly those in need of efficient hot water production during the winter months for aggregate heating.

Kemco Systems has found direct contact heating can be a more efficient application of energy than traditional boilers in the heating of water. By ensuring curing temperature is appropriate regardless of site conditions and required specification, Kemco’s 99.7% efficient direct contact water heaters deliver hot water instantaneously up to 199 degrees Fahrenheit, helping customers make a consistent level of strong and reliable concrete and concrete products.
Vince Hagan invented and patented the mobile concrete batch plant in 1956 and continues to develop and manufacture various types of plants and equipment for the concrete industry. The addition of Kemco direct contact water heaters and vapor steam aggregate heating equipment to the batch plants offers customers an added layer of reliability and durability on-site, including during extreme temperatures.

The collaboration, which involves Kemco providing factory startup and training on all equipment, allows Vince Hagan customers to purchase a 99.7% high efficiency hot water system and aggregate heating systems to increase ROI and provide concrete during the winter season while simultaneously purchasing a new plant from one source. Additionally, integrating the hot water system from the beginning rather than as an additional piece of equipment later saves customers time and money.
“Both Kemco and Vince Hagan have 40-year-old equipment still operating in the field, which is a testament to the great match for ROI and longevity of operation for customers in the concrete industry,” said Kayne.
Kemco direct contact water heaters operate at atmospheric pressure, meaning the units do not have to meet the regulations of pressurized vessels and are available with programmable logic controls and hot water storage tanks. The heaters are sized based on total yards per hour in peak production time, ensuring the heater will generate the hot water needed for batching operations in both ready-mix and precast scenarios.
Hot water production systems have been installed most recently for SurRoca Redi-Mix in Oklahoma.
