ALM is a non-profit 501c6 trade association serving the textile care industry. All members have a voice in the organization's governance with the right to vote, hold/appointment to office, volunteer for committees or task forces, and give presentations. Members may also choose to participate in a local/regional chapter, but are not required to do so.

ALM's annual meetings are held in conjunction with ALM’s IMPACT Conference in even years or with CLEAN in odd years.
